Low vitamin d levels, which is reaching epidemic status, is linked - TopicsExpress

Low vitamin d levels, which is reaching epidemic status, is linked to low levels of serotonin (which correlates with dopamine), oxytocin, and vasopressin. Apparently imbalances in these chemicals is linked to autism...its recommended that people of northern European descent (or anyone that turns red) spend 15 minutes in the sun at least 3x a week to meet the requirement for vitamin d. People of the African diaspora on the other hand need 90minutes in the sun 3x a week to meet the same requirement because of higher concentrations of melanin. If Euro-Americans are often vitamin d deficient and African Americans require more time in the sun.... And then what are the ramifications pertaining to levels of serotonin, oxytocin, and vasopressin? In theory the vast majority of African Americans would have extremely low levels of serotonin, oxytocin, and vasopressin. Diagnosis for depression has drastically increased among the American population, however it remains largely undiagnosed and under-diagnosed in the African American community... in theory any one who doesnt get the necessary amount of sun exposure (or dietary consumption of vitamin d, [although bioavailability is an issue]) would constantly be battling depression... in males depression is manifested as anger....anger which when not expressed in an appropriate manner simmers beneath the surface.
