Lucky both, cat fish and me Greater Egret and a Cat fish, Thol, Gujarat July - 14 I really am a raptor fan. and in this season near ahmedabad raptors I can see are honey buzzard, black winged kite, black kite and shikra (not much in terms of variation). I just love Osprey and always want to shoot one catching a cat fish. So on this dry day I tried to look for areas in Thol where there are considerably good amount of cat fish. I got a place where there were around 6-7 cat fish jumping in and out of water. so I sat at that place as I was a bit tired and started shooting greater egret in breeding plumage. It was so quiet for a descent duration and than suddenly jumped to other place, I shot few pics but there were not many birds so thought to try to take a picture of a jumping cat fish. I tried to take few when I see jumping movement but end result was only water without anything. So I thought that I should observe its behaviour and swimming pattern first. I got some idea about there timings and place of jumps and tried to capture but again no success. Than I recalled that when I was shooting egret, few cat fish were always making movements near its feet. So I went back to shoot cat fish nearer to that egret but unfortunately nothing happened and I thought it wont be possible this time, I will give it a try on next visit. Came back to home, I was checking shots and first shot I checked was Egret tried to catch a fish. I saw the egret which was not very much in focus but the thing which was in better focus was a jumping cat fish. I really am not used to write this much but thought it would be more fun and interesting if I share so wrote it down. Hope everyone enjoys the picture as well as story.
