Luis Suarez. Ive just read an interesting article about this very talented footballer. His childhood was one of poverty and insecurity and football was his way out, scoring goals was his way out. He becomes personally wealthy and a valuable commodity for the international football machine. His insecurity from his childhood drives him to do things under pressure others wouldnt do, he bites opponents people who stand in his way to the security hes determined will continue. He needs help and will surely receive this from those who wish to protect this valuable commodity. Morality, what morality you dont win if you have a sense of morality, sense of right and wrong, a sense of feeling guilty at gaining advantage at the expense of others, act immorally and you win, if you dont get caught! Lots of people everyday face pressure, somedays the poverty of our circumstances cause us to react in ways that are down right disrespectful and hurtful, millions of people are poor and insecure and act in ways many of us find incomprehensible, they end up in jail, unfortnately for them they are not a valuable commodity to the exploitative capitalist system. Now my point, are we going to continue to treat the symptom not the cause, Luis Suarez so long as he can score goals will get the support, he will get intensive counselling from the best money can buy, but for the rest of the poor who didnt make it out, who are screwed up because of our economic and political system which creates social devastation, tough, learn to live with your circumstances, if the pressure gets to much and you bite someone, your going to jail. One poor kid will be supported because they are a valuable commodity another abandoned. They both need help, one will get all the support needed, the other will be locked in a prison cell for 23 hours a day. People like me want an economic system that ends this hypocrisy, we would like everyone who needs support to receive it but most of all we would like an economic system that ends poverty both absolute and relative that creates this insecurity which leads to such inhuman acts.
