Luisa DAmato tells us in todays article Teachers, count your blessings that if she was a teacher, she would be spending her unpaid day off, which should have been a professional development day, trying to figure out how to teach math. REALLY????? I bet you shed then mark her math tests on Saturday, her writing assignment on Sunday, Geography on quizzes on Monday, Science experiments on Tuesday, History essays on Wednesday, take Thursday off and count her blessings, then begin to prepare for the next week on Friday, and then take the weekend off......oh my!! If every teacher was only as hard working as she would be, our system would be in fine shape and shed have nothing to complain about in her Waterloo Region Record article. I will say, I am surprised that in her journalistic formation, a teacher didnt pick up on her writing as being largely narrow, one-sided and quite repetitive (when it comes to articles on education, anyway) ......teacher bashing is boring but nonetheless insulting. As for me, I think Ill take today off and give thanks for all of the great teachers I have encountered over the years.....hmmmm, interesting that as I reflect on my life as a student, not one of my favourite teachers was a math teacher. There is so much more to life than math scores and working seven days a week now isnt there! Have a great weekend everyone!!
