Luka Modric will miss Real Madrids daunting return to competitive - TopicsExpress

Luka Modric will miss Real Madrids daunting return to competitive action. The Croat still faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines, though his recovery from his thigh injury is going well and he is itching to begin the second stage of his comeback efforts. Carlo Ancelotti knows he will be without the playmaker throughout January and in the tough two-week period at the beginning of February. Instead, the aim is a more conservative one: to have the former Tottenham schemer back in full flow for the Champions League quarter-finals in mid April. If everything goes smoothly, Modric will be back even earlier. There have been murmurs about a possible return in six weeks time, but Ancelotti and the 29- year-old have had a heart to heart and the upshot is that the midfielder is going to take things slowly. The chances are he wont feature at all in the Champions League last-16 tie against Schalke, at least not in the first leg on 18th February. #Me3LAn# https://m.facebook/ModricLuka10/photos/a.828961783823297.1073741829.564221410297337/851175021601973/?type=1&source=46&refid=17
