Luke 11:24-26 (NLT) “When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, searching for rest. But when it finds none, it says, ‘I will return to the person I came from.’ So it returns and finds that its former home is all swept and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before.” In these verses, Jesus was/is illustrating a very true human tendency...our desire to reform often doesnt last very long! In Israels history, almost as soon as a good king would pull down idols, a bad king would set them up again... You know, its not enough for us to be simply emptied of evil...we must be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit to accomplish Gods new prose in our lives! It was seven (7) years ago when my then wife, asked me, how long will it last, Bert? Well Im happy to say....its been seven (7) years, clean and sober, and Ive never been more in love with the Lord than i am right now!! Am i boasting? You better believe it! But not in myself or anything that Ive done! Im boasting in the cross, the power it has had to transform my life, and in Jesus who has forgiven me and given me a new life to live...by the power of His Holy Spirit! Thank You, Lord...for saving my soul! Thank You, Lord...for making me whole! Thank You, Lord...for giving to me.... Thy great salvation...do rich and free!!!
