Luke Chapter 10 Wrap Up Jesus appointed seventy-two followers to go ahead of him into the towns of Judea. They returned from their mission rejoicing that even the demons had submitted to them. (Luke 10:1-20) Jesus rejoiced that God had chosen to reveal the truths of Scripture not to the wise but to the childlike---those who were humble and dependent on God. The disciples received the truth and acted on it with childlike trust. (Luke 10:21-24) An expert in the law posed a question to Jesus, hoping to trap him. Jesus, in turn, asked the expert to quote from the Old Testament Scripture what God had said----to love him supremely and to love one’s neighbor. (Luke 10:25-29) Jesus told a story in which a despised Samaritan was neighborly to a wounded Jew who had been bypassed by a priest and a Levite. The point was that love is shown by actions, not by a strict following of law.
