Luke Shaw available for debut Luke Shaw is in line to make his Manchester United debut against QPR on Sunday after recovering from a hamstring injury. The summer signing is yet to make his competitive bow after picking up the problem before the Reds’ pre-season game against Valencia on 16 August. But boss Louis van Gaal, who has praised Shaw’s attitude during his recovery, revealed the defender has returned to fitness, even if he won’t play 90 minutes this weekend. Ander Herrera and Rafael are also back, but the news is not so good for United’s other injury absentees; van Gaal remains without nine first-teamers. The manager said at his Friday pre-match press conference: When I left for the international break it was 10 [players injured] so only one is back – Shaw. Shaw is fit enough to play but not the whole game – there is a difference. [Marouane] Fellaini is longer than a month and [Phil] Jones is maybe three weeks or a month. [Michael] Carrick is not ready but he has run for the first time on grass, which is unbelievable after eight weeks. [Sam] Johnstone has elbow problems, [Chris] Smalling is not fit enough but he shall train tomorrow with the second-team squad for the first time. [James] Wilson and [Reece] James are not ready yet, and [Jesse] Lingard and [Ashley] Young are also injured. Via:manutd
