Lummi Island Bike Ride Saturday June 15, 2013 The sky was blue, the temperature was warm as sixteen of us met at the Gooseberry Point ferry dock to go to Lummi Island for what turned out to be a wonderful day for biking and enjoying the Pacific NW. We stopped to check out the Farmer’s Market before we got under way. The scenery was spectacular along the coast and Elisabeth found the perfect lunch spot for us. We all enjoyed the beach with views of the San Juan Islands, beach-combing and lunch. As we reached the central part of the island, 3 groups split off, some wanting to take an earlier ferry back while the rest of us wanted to do some more riding. A small group of us ended up having a nice cold brew as we waited for our ferry to arrive. Janet kept a lookout as we sipped and talked. The ferry must have sneaked in while we weren’t looking so we had to make a mad dash to the ferry dock. The charge was led by Elisabeth with the rest of us peddling furiously behind. The boon had already been lowered as the ferry was getting ready to depart but we were spotted and the crew graciously raised it again as we all came flying down the jetty on our bikes. A good laugh and good time was shared by all. Regards Kay
