Lyn and I had the most wonderful Dinner last night in Sirmione Italy. The owner Stephano greeted us personally with a hand shake as we arrived. We were given the best table in the place with a magical view of Lake Garda . The presentation of the Restaurant just lovely. All fittings were very appropriate for an old style Italian Restaurant. The food was very imaginative and carefully presented and of course very tasty. There were little extras that are not selected from the menu like the "Welcome from the Kitchen" and the Pre Desserts (note that is plural) being 5 individual items in pairs all served in either Silver or Limoges crockery. Then came the actual Dessert followed by the Petit Four again on a Silver tree. The service was impeccable where no matter how many people were at the table an appropriate number of Waiters arrived with the dishes so everybody received the course at exactly the same time. The Wine list - or should I say the Wine book with an Index bigger than any actual list I have seen before. And in case you have trouble choosing as you are washing your hands in the Toilette you can look over the expansive Wine Cellar behind the mirror. And then at the end of the evening the owner Stephano presented us with a personally signed copy of a beautiful book about Sirmione so pleased he was about our glowing comments re his Restaurant. Finally all available staff (about 5 of them) including Stephano bid us fair well again with a hand shake at the end of the night. This would have to be the best dining experience Lyn and I have ever had with a very reasonable cost and if you intend coming to Italy you must visit La Speranzina in Sirmione. Absolutely Unforgettable.
