MAHAPERIVA AND VEDA CHANTING Kanchi Mahaperiva his holiness shankara learnt vedas from his father.A student is lucky to get his father as his Guru In vedas there are four Swaras.They are UDHATHAM (normal octave) ANUDHATHAM (below Octave) SWARITHAM (higher octave) DHHERGA SWARITHAM ( higher octave with extension) One day as a student Mahaperiva commited a swara mistake in vedic chanting.His father got angry and tied him with a rope which is used to draw water from a well.After tying with the rope he slipped him into the well.It was a great punishment for him,such was the treatment given for wrong chanting of vedas, from that day he was very careful in chanting the vedas AABIR GEERBIR.....................SYAMA This mantra is chanted after vedic chanting asking for pardon for wrong chanting of vedas HARA HARA SHANKARA JAYA JAYA SHANKARA
