MAINA NJENGA SURVIVES A DEADLY SHOOTING INCIDENT By #BCNcorrespondent Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga’s motorcade was involved in a shooting on Saturday along Nyahururu road but Maina survived the shooting leaving five of his men dead. He was left with serious wounds and was rushed to Nyahururu district hospital. He blames the police for attempted assassination. Among the dead were two women and three men aged between 30 and 40. It was his day out in group of people travelling to Pesi in Laikipia for a family gathering when their vehicle was sprayed with bullets at Suera village. Their day began in Nakuru where they left for Laikipia but noticed a vehicle closely following them which later blocked them at a bump along the way. The drivers died on the spot leading the vehicles to veer off the road before landing in a nearby ditch. “The vehicle was overtaking us when we suddenly saw the occupants brandishing guns and shooting at us. I was shot on the hand and a bullet cut my right finger,” Maina told the press at the hospital. Each vehicle is said to have had more than ten bullet holes. Motive unknown but blames are on the police. The members of the outlawed sect have lately had differences with some accusing Njenga’s supporters of forcefully taking over their properties in Nairobi and other parts of the country.
