MAKE JUICING A WAY OF LIFE..... Quite simply, without juicing it is extremely difficult to get the amount of nutrition we need to reduce our risk of not only cancer, but also heart disease and strokes. For example, recent studies indicate that to effectively reduce the risk of many cancers we would need to eat in a day the amount of beta-carotene equivalent to about two to three pounds of fresh carrots (roughly six large carrots). To thoroughly chew one carrot takes about 5 minutes, so to eat six could take half an hour a day. Most Americans simply do not have the desire nor the time to do this. Juicing provides a quick, easy, and effective way to meet your daily quota of carotenes and other valuable cancer-fighting nutrients. For example, 16 ounces of carrot juice provides the carotene equivalent of approximately three pounds of carrots. Juicing is extremely easy to incorporate into your life. Simply make a habit of drinking 16 ounces of juice each day. FRESH JUICE VS. WHOLE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES We should eat whole fruits and vegetables to get fiber, but we should juice too. Juicing fresh vegetables does provide some fiber, particularly the soluble fiber. And it is the soluble fiber that has been shown to lower cholesterol levels. Think about it...fiber refers to indigestible material found in plants. While this is very important for proper bowel function, it is the juice that nourishes us. Our body actually converts the food we eat into juice so that it can be absorbed. Juicing helps the bodys digestive process and allows for quick absorption of high-quality nutrition. The result is increased energy levels. Juicing quickly provides the most easily digestible and concentrated nutritional benefits of fruits and vegetables. FRESH JUICE VS. CANNED, BOTTLED, OR FROZEN JUICES Fresh juice is far superior to canned, bottled, or frozen juices. Fresh juice not only contains greater nutritional values, it contains life. Specifically, fresh juice contains enzymes and other living ingredients. In contrast, canned, bottled, and packaged juices have been pasteurized, which keeps it on the shelf longer but causes the loss of identifiable nutrients like vitamins and minerals, as well as the loss of other factors not yet fully understood. The fresher the juice the greater the nutrition. Michael Murray, N.D., The Complete Book of Juicing
