MAN CITY 0-1 CHELSEA. PLAYER RATING. Most of the top performers in tonights 1-0 victory for Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium were in royal blue.MANCHESTER CITY JOE HART: Made fine saves to deny Ramires and Eden Hazard, underlining his return to form, but could do little to keep out Ivanovics strike. 7 PABLO ZABALETA: One of Citys most consistent performers had a tough night trying to contain Hazard. 6 VINCENT KOMPANY: Firm and commanding in defence and showed willingness to get forward but there was some poor work around him. 7 MATIJA NASTASIC: Made some good defensive interventions but his understanding with Kompany was lacking under pressure. 6 ALEKSANDAR KOLAROV: Provided a great attacking outlet and delivered some dangerous crosses but was caught short defensively. 6 JESUS NAVAS: Tried to run at the Chelsea defence but was unable to exert much influence. 6 MARTIN DEMICHELIS: Pushed into a midfield role and soon began to look uncomfortable, both in possession and defensively. 5 YAYA TOURE: Looked at his rampaging best early on, creating chances and going close himself, but influence waned as Chelsea took charge. 7 DAVID SILVA: Lively in the early stages, cutting through the Chelsea defence but then had a quiet spell before twice going close as City rallied. 7 ALVARO NEGREDO: Showed strength in the early stages before firing over but he offered little else and was taken off before the hour. 5 EDIN DZEKO: Got himself into some good positions and threatened but could not find the finish. 6 SUBSTITUTES: STEVAN JOVETIC (on for Negredo, 57): Tried to find a way through and went close to equaliser by testing Cech with a fine late shot. 6 CHELSEA PETR CECH: Had a quiet night but alert when called upon to save from Silva and Jovetic. 7 BRANISLAV IVANOVIC: Looked like Negredo might give him a tough night in the early stages but he responded to win that battle, producing a fine all-round display and firing a fine goal. 8 GARY CAHILL: Showed his worth with some timely interceptions as City made a lot of the early running, and got forward to hit the post. 8 JOHN TERRY: Usual calm and assured presence at the back, rarely out of position. 8 CESAR AZPILICUETA: Completed a strong Chelsea back line, timed his challenges well. 7 DAVID LUIZ: Not one of his more spectacular performances but, a poor free-kick aside, it was composed. 6 NEMANJA MATIC: Struggled to deal with some of Toures powerful runs but grew into the game. 6 RAMIRES: Burst forward at every opportunity, providing the spark for a number of counter-attacks. 8 WILLIAN: Another powerful threat going forward, City struggled to contain him. 7 EDEN HAZARD: Showed great pace down the right and delivery to the box was dangerous. 8 SAMUEL ETOO: In general, maybe the least threatening of Chelseas attacking quartet but still hit the woodwork in a good showing. 7 SUBSTITUTES: OSCAR (on for Ramires, 83): Did not have enough time to get into the game. 6 JON OBI MIKEL (on for Willian, 90): - DEMBA BA (on for Hazard, 90: -
