MANDAUE CITY CHILDREN’S CHOIR WINS AT 2ND ASIA CANTATE IN HONG KONG 19 June 2014 - The Children’s Paradise Montessori School Choir of Mandaue City, Cebu won three awards at the 2nd Asia Cantate held June 13 to 16 in Hong Kong: • Gold and Category Winner for Equal Voices (Soprano and Alto); • Silver for Children’s Choir Category; and • Silver for Folklore Category. The 2ndAsia Cantate was organized by the Konzert Pte Ltd and brought together 17 choral groups from the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. The choral competition aimed at focusing on Asian music and in bringing together Asian choirs to share their music, culture and heritage. The Children’s Paradise Montessori School Choir was the sole entry from the Philippines. The choir also performed during the Philippine Consulate General’s flag ceremony and brunch with the Filipino community in celebration of the 116th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence held on June 12 at the Consulate’s Public Area, and at Disneyland on June 16. Led by choirmaster Dennis Gregory Sugarol, the Children’s Paradise Montessori Choir is a 29-member choral group composed of schoolchildren aged 5-12. The choral group was formed in 2014. END
