MANITOBA AGRICULTURAL MUSEUM JOB TITLE: CURATOR The Manitoba Agricultural Museum (MAM) is seeking a Curator for a half time position. The Curator will report to the Chief Museum Officer and work in conjunction with all staff, Board of Directors and volunteers. The Curator will provide leadership in the preservation of artifacts and development of future displays. MAM maintains an 80 acre developed site which includes a 26 building pioneer village and Canada’s largest collection of operating antique agricultural machinery. Requirements: • Minimum 5 years curatorial experience, preferably in a museum environment. • A credited museum studies program • Excellent communication skills, written and oral • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with great attention to detail • Demonstrated ability to complete projects, grant applications, meet deadlines, and manage within budget Duties and Responsibilities • Study, examine, and research acquisitions to authenticate origin, composition, history, and assess historical value • Inspect buildings, artifacts and storage areas to assess repair needs and develop preservation plans where needed • Develop collection exhibitions and oversee acquisitions strategy • Design, organize, and conduct tours, workshops, and educational sessions to acquaint individuals with museum artifacts and facilities • Write review grant proposals, journal articles, institutional reports, and publicity materials • Formulate museum policies and budget requirements in cooperation with volunteer committees and the Board of Directors • Maintain the institution’s registration, cataloging, and databases Interested candidates are asked to submit a cover letter and resume with expected salary range by Wednesday, February 5, 2014 @ 5 pm. to : Gloria Sims, MAM President Box 10, Austin, MB R0H 0C0 Email: [email protected] We thank all individuals for applying, but only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
