MANSTON AIRPORT UPDATE! Love it or hate it (and I suppose that depends on whether or not you live under the flypath), Manston Airport has been around for the best part of 100 years and it would be a crying shame if it were turned into yet another unwanted housing development. The proposed purchasers of the site have - quite sensibly in my opinion - indicated that they see the future of the airport as being a cargo terminal rather than a passenger hub. History would appear to support them in that (how many different companies have tried and failed to launch passenger services?), while millions of pounds have been spent creating state of the art cargo handling warehouses and customs ports.
