MARAUDERS FALL 9-2 TO #1 SC TITANS; EARN 7-0 WIN OVER #6 BULLS TO ADVANCE! The Marauders took the field on Sunday to complete their Round 2 game vs. the Sin City Titans (which was scuttled by the City of Las Vegas) down 2-0 in the fourth inning. Starter Justin Gallegos got the nod to continue his quality performance and Jeremy Smith was ready in relief. The Marauders played an excellent ball game in support of Gallegos and shut down the Titans in the fourth and fifth innings. In the sixth inning, the Titans muscled across two more runs to double their lead to 4-0. The Marauders just couldnt get anything going offensively against Titans starter John Hay and that continued into the 7th inning. In the bottom of the frame, Gallegos got two quick outs and then the Titans found their bats crushing three consecutive doubles. Gallegos gave way to Smith after 6 2/3 innings of very well-pitched baseball. Smith allowed a couple hits before getting the final out of the inning. In all, the Titans plated 5 more runs and took a 9-0 lead going into the 8th inning. Again, the Marauder went quietly. Smith equaled the scoreless frame in the bottom of the inning. In the 9th, Titans Manager Chris Gschwender called to the bullpen and replaced Hay with another terrific arm to close the game. But the Marauders werent done fighting yet. The reliever was wild and between walks and hit batters the Marauders plated two runs with two outs. Gschwender had to go to the bullpen again. With the bases loaded, and down 9-2, the final out was made. Regardless of the score, the Marauders had great pitching, excellent defense and fought to the end. It was one of the best games the Marauders played all year and helped them be ready for the possible double header next weekend as they face the #3 Angels and, if they win, the #2 Las Vegas Titans. The 1pm game was cancelled as the Bulls called in a forfeit, automatically sending the Marauders into the 4th Round Table Knights. Winning both games would set the Marauders in for a rematch with the Sin City Titans in the Championship game. But, thats a tough road ahead!
