Regards MARG 31st July 2014 Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, Meeting hall Siliguri With a view to prevent and make people aware of the JE(Japanese Encephalitis),a disease which has caused deaths of hundreds of people over North Bengal in a month ,an awareness campaign was organized by water sanitation support organization PHE(public health engineering)Department,govt. west Bengal ,siliguri . Meeting was an awareness campaign where people were made familiar with the symptoms,preventive measures and vaccination as prerequisite for prevention of the disease. Meeting was inaugurated in presence of BDOs from four blocks of siliguri,Local NGOs, ICDS workers,PHE employees and SHG workers of siliguri subdivision. BDO from matigara expressed his views on disease highlighting the preventive measures precisely citing an example of past years dengue fever and told JE to be every years challenge for north Bengal residence . Dr. S.Majumdar, Nodal medical officer cleared us about intersectual interaction where all NGOs,ICDS workers , PHE employees ,and SHG members will be working in awareness programmes when the affected areas will be fogged against mosquito and disinfection of drinking water will be done in local areas .According to him JE/AES is a disease ,caused by culex misquito as intermediate, when a person suffers from prolonged fever accompanied by severe headache and once a person is affected with this disease may not cured After a precious speech of Dr.S.majumdar Plan of action of JE awareness campaign were made clear by Mr. Pradipta Chakrobarty,consultant, WSSO,PHE deptt. The campaign came to conclusion at 4pm with a demonstration of water quality testing by FTK,sanitary survey & disinfection of water source by Dr.Gautam Basu ,state lab coordinator of PHE.
