MARKS BEST MOVIE SONGS EVER (1955-99) COUNTDOWN ... NO. 282 SOMEDAY SOMEWAY--Marshall Crenshaw (#36, 1982, Night Shift) The one and only hit for Detroit-born Marshall Crenshaw (born November 11, 1953) would have two outlets -- his own self-titled debut album in 1982 and was also a part of the soundtrack of the Ron Howard-directed movie Night Shift that starred his good friend from Happy Days, Henry Winkler, as an overnight director of a morgue who gets in over his head with his buddy, played by Michael Keaton, who wants to start a pimping business and their best client is a hooker played by Shelley Long. Like the song Back On The Chain Gang from the movie The King Of Comedy back at No. 284, this song isnt quite as well known for the movie it is from and stood out as a Top 40 hit for the artist himself. Crenshaw had the distinction of playing John Lennon in the off-Broadway production of Beatlemania and then got to play the role of Buddy Holly in the 1987 movie about the late Ritchie Valens called La Bamba. Thoughts, memories? Enjoy!
