MARKS BEST MOVIE SONGS EVER (1955-99) COUNTDOWN ... NO. 75 (LET ME BE YOUR) TEDDY BEAR–ELVIS PRESLEY (#1, 1957, Loving You) The fourth of seven songs in this countdown for the late, great Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935-August 16, 1977), (Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear was from the first movie he got a starring part in called Loving You, also the first movie he did in color after his supporting role in 1956s Love Me Tender. Presley plays a delivery guy who happens to have a singing voice that he gets to try at a show. Hes so good (wow, shocker!!) that he gets signed to a deal to do a tour of Texas, but pretty soon, its apparent hes going solo and worse, his music is unacceptable to the listening public (imagine THAT in 1950s music!!). He has a run-in with the woman who gets fired on the tour and an opening act named Susan (played by Delores Hart in her debut). Pretty soon, he walks out, Susan chases after him, then he vows he wont come back and just as a show is about to go on, he is persuaded to come back and perform and everyone lives happily after ever, blah blah blah! Teddy Bear, written by Kal Mann and Bernie Lowe, spent seven weeks at No. 1, becoming one of Elvis biggest hits ever. Thoughts, memories? Enjoy!
