****MARLEY NEEDS A PLAYMATE..BY NOON TOMORROW!*** A volunteer writes: He is always playful and happy…That is what Marleys owner said when he surrendered him into our care….because the child in the house developed allergies ….Marley, owned all his life by the same family lived with a small kid, a newborn and a cat he used to play with and sleep with…He was taken regularly to the dog park, something I like to hear, meaning that Marley can play with and handle other dogs, although he is said to hide behind his master when other pooches are too pushy with him. He would love children and be very tolerant of them but could knock them down as he is high energy. Marley would know a number of commands and some tricks, like opening the fridge…He is a bit on the thin side, his ribs are showing and I can see why he would have wanted to do that. We are feeding him three times a day. Marley barks in his kennel. He is used to a whole apartment and not to be confined, mostly he never was crate trained. He calms down right away when he sees my leash and off we go to the yard. He is a good looking boy clad in a neat honey and cream coat. He is quite energetic, jumps a lot, runs after the ball that he retrieves and does not guard. Marley walks nicely around the block, eliminating on the way. He sits at the light and on command. He nears other dogs without any problem and chases the pigeons. He is very welcoming of people who come to say hello. He does jump at them, though and has to be told:no. He is a good listener. Free in a pen, he comes right away when called and sits by my side or at my feet for caresses. Marley looks like a good family dog who needs some fine tuning and he will then be ready for the next chapter in his life…your home, your love and leadership. Marley is at the Manhattan Care Center, dreaming to be yours.
