MATCH REPORT DAY 1 **Match 1: Fall 11 (0-3) Fall 12 The runners up of last year took on an enthusiastic Fall 12 outfit. Both sides started off the game giving few opportunities to each other. The number 10 of Fall 12 Zarifs shot was greatly dealt with by the keeper. The deadlock was broken when Faysal of Fall 12 blasted a shot in the top-left corner from a pass from Badhon. Faysal also provided an excellent cross to Waes who blasted over the crossbar. After the halftime it was all Fall 12. After consecutive misses from Waes and Aban, an assist from Badhon scored by Aban doubled their lead. Faysal then scored a long range eye-candy towards the end of the match which ensured no comeback from Fall 11 and his man of the match medal. **Match 2: Fall 09 (0-7) Spring 11 Emotions ran high through the Fall 09 dugout as they stepped on the inter-semester stage for the final time, cheered and greeted by everyone on the field. Spring 11 knew that being the defending champions they had to make a firm statement against their opponents. But a mistake from their defenders early in the first half left the defense exposed, leaving Sabbir one on one with the the keeper Mahmud, but Satam covered good ground and made a goal-saving tackle. Rakibs (Spring 11) shot was brilliantly steered away by the keeper Asif. Nazran (Spring 11) saw his close range effort missed by a whisker, but he covered it up with a magnificent shot curled into the net. In the second half Spring 11 showed why they are still considered as one of the main contenders of the title. They netted six goals in the opponent half which included two close range finishes from the captain and man of the match Talat and a calm finish from Nazran. Sanjid conjured two magical finishes from the corner while Iram lived up to his reputation of tearing the net. **Match 3: Spring 12 (3-0) Summer 10 Another title contender Spring 12 started off their campaign with a dominating performance over Summer 10. They kept most of the possession throughout the match and kept their opponents at the bay. Pantho scored the first goal for Spring 12 from a gorgeous through ball from Shimanto. The first half ended with a plethora of chances created by Spring 12, but a determined Summer 10 defence made sure that there was no further deficit. However, Spring 12 had saved their best display for the second half. Their star player Turjjo took the keeper one on one and fooled him to net one home. Shimanto (Spring 12) then scored one from a Xaki assist. Afterwards, their talisman Pitul came on and gave some precise through balls, but a lack of good finishing kept the score 3-0. Shimanto was named man of the match for his exquisite play. **Match 4: Fall 10 (0-0) Spring 13 Memories from the last year quarterfinals were still afresh for Fall 10 as they looked on to redeem their lost cause against a formidable Spring 13. But it was not to happen as a resilient Spring 13 outfit made sure that the number of chances created by their opponents were kept to a minimum. However, they themselves squandered a handful of good opportunities throughout the match. After a goalless first half, they looked to turn things around, but it was the Fall 10 keeper Samis day as he made a lot of crucial saves to be rightfully adjudged the man of the match. --by Ahmad Tausif #crusade14 #hailFCBU
