MATCH REPORTS Towcester 1 V Cannock 2 A tough match for towcester travelling away to Cannock on a fast moving bouncy pitch which took some getting used to. An end to end first half with a superb strike at goal from player of the match Laura whittle saw tows take the lead into the half time break. They then clung on to their lead with every player digging deep and defending well Cannock failed to optimise any of their 9 shorts corners and tows looked dangerous on the break . Whittle again on the break won a penalty flick which she failed to convert , not affecting the end result and the three points gained towcester currently sitting mid table. There is a league break this week, next match Nov 8th 2pm at Northampton high school for girls against Loughborough students. Towcester 2 V Burton 2 As midday arrived the whistle blew and started a bottom of the table clash. Both sides were looking for their first win of the season, and it was a fairly even start with both teams probing and trying to find an opening goal. Burton won a number of short corners, but the tows defence coped well and repelled the visitors. When tows won the ball Bea and Mollie began to cause problems for Burton, and the home side were unlucky not to win a penalty corner when Cheryl was scythed down on the edge of the d. As the half continued, the mid field of Shannon, Vicky, Joanne and Cheryl grew in confidence and began to push forward and support Catherine , Bea and Mollie. Half time came with the score 0-0, and after the break and a slight tweak in formation, Tows began to find some more room especially down the right hand side as Bea and Catherine found some success without quite finding the final ball. Mollie nearly scored and chances for Cheryl and Catherine also just missed the target. At the other end, Leanne marshalled her defence and despite conceding goals in previous games Leila Chloe Tracy and Karen held firm, despite the efforts of Burton who never stopped trying to find a winning goal. After breaking up another attack, player of the match, Leanne set Catherine free down the right and the pace of the Tows attack caught Burton out and a fine cross into the d found Cheryl on her own at the top of the d and she skilfully slid the ball past the on rushing keeper, One nil. The Towcester supporters cheers were soon muted as Burton won a penalty corner with seconds to go, but again the defence were in control and as the final whistle went, the home side had gained a great first win of the season. There is a league break this week next match Nov 8th away against Burton 1s. NO 3s match this week or next. 3rd team face local rivals Kettering 3s on 8th November at Corby Academy 10:30 push back.
