MATRIX There is one point in the matrix where Trinity needs urgently to fly a helicopter, so she asks for the information to be downloaded into her brain. Well it’s a possibility that in the near future we will be able to use technology to implant knowledge into our brains, without the need of taking years to learn the skill? But why, why are we only looking at it from this aspect? Why do scientists always want to use or invent some technological improvement to enhance our brains? Surely this is cheating, as we are not evolving; as such, but interfering with ourselves. I’d like to look at it from another aspect; don’t we already possess these skills and capabilities? As we know many of our problems within our personalities come from ‘baggage’; ideas, concepts and self-limiting beliefs that hold us back. And most of the time it’s these that stop us from becoming who and what we want to be. Our brains are clever it does what we want it to; whether we are aware of it or not. Remember Dumbo with the feather, once he put his faith in the feather he realised he could fly. So surely isnt it much the same with us? We possess everything inside us already, so isnt it better if we learnt to overcome our problems instead of becoming an extension of a computer program? As far as I can tell humans have so much potential yet we throw all this away because of our emotionalism and our attachment to it. So by putting all our hopes and efforts into science are we missing the point of evolving? So the question I’d like to ask is; do you think we should rely on machines or technology to enhance ourselves, or do you think we need to explore our brains a little more and learn to detach our brains influence from the things which hold us back? I’m also thinking that perhaps this is what the debate between the Singularity and the Luddites’ its really just a reflection of the Atheism verses Theists debate. Those that want to move forward and those that want to stay behind; as it were. Any thoughts?
