MAY WE HAVE THE RIGHT HELP IN BUILDING Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. ---Psalm 124:8 Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. ---Psalm 127:1 He wanted the good life and believed he deserved to have it. He worked and worked to build his empire. Over time he owned many homes in different parts of the world, top of the line cars and clothes, people working for him taking care of all the needs in his life. Of course, he had many friends that he wined and dined. But overnight his investments went bad and he lost everything. Over time he had to sell his home, cars and many other things. His friends did not come around anymore and became a lonely man. He stepped out in front of a train and ended his life. Unfortunately, like many, he put his faith and hope in the uncertainty of wealth. He had sought to build his house on his own with no thought toward the eternal or to the Lord God Almighty. Many people in this world are “building their own lives” without any thought to the Lord or their eternal existence after this life. Multitudes are duped into thinking this is all there is and after we die there is nothing else. But Jesus came and destroyed that myth. Still, Satan blinds people to the Truth and has them living a lie. What good is it if a person becomes a multi-millionaire or a multi-billionaire or lives on an average salary or less if they do not know the Lord Jesus Christ? Mark 8:36 asks, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” If a person could own the wealth of the whole world, the value of that temporal wealth does not even come close to the value of his eternal soul, the person that lives inside the shell of his body. Yes, one person is more valuable than the wealth of the whole world. So do we look at them that way? God does and that is why He sent His Son, Jesus, to serve justice for us on the cross. There He was condemned in our place. There He made it possible for us to escape the eternal judgment of hell, the punishment for our sin, and to come into a relationship with Him, receiving eternal life and go to heaven. So why would a person be only focused on the temporal and not the eternal? Why would a person not received the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ? (Romans 6:23). It is Satan who blinds people’s minds to the truth (II Corinthians 4:4) and yet we can share the good news with them and it is God that causes the Light to shine in their hearts so they can come to a knowledge of the truth (II Corinthians 4:5-6). Fellow follower of Jesus, may the Lord be working through us to build. He who made the heaven and earth is able to do what He desires in our lives. When He is doing the building our labor is not in vain. Those who are doing the building themselves are working in vain. Yes, may He be doing the building through us. May it be so! Dear Father, please work in and through me to build what Your desire, to accomplish what You desire. May I be a ready and willing vessel for Your use in Jesus authority!
