MAYBE ALL THIS BENGHAZI NEWS IS JUST INTENDED TO DISTRACT US FROM BENGHAZI As I pointed out yesterday, the response from the right wing to the capture of suspected Benghazi attack leader Ahmed Abu Khatallah (in the media, on Facebook and in the halls of Congress) has been to either ignore it completely or to try somehow pretend that it is bad news. But wait...theres more! Now there is new reporting indicating that as Khatallah gathered his fighters, he told them the attack was in retaliation for an online video disparaging the prophet Mohammed. This, of course, flies in the face of of a sacred tenet in the near constant barrage of the right wing clarion call, BENGHAZI BENGHAZI BENGHAZI! For months it has been considered sacrosanct in right wing media that the attack had nothing to do with the video. That blaming the video was part of a scheme by Obama to cover up some imagined incompetence or political maneuvering or something even more sinister. Of course such accusations were always suspect but this shoots holes all through the conspiracy theory. And the response to this from the right? You guessed it. Crickets. And its not like the story is from some obscure website or anything. Its in the New York Times for cripes sake (cue the right wing complaints about the source). Of course, there are already claims from some nutty righties that the months of planning by the FBI and military leading to Khatallahs capture were part of a well orchestrated scheme to bolster Hillary Clintons presidential aspirations. They even suggest that Khatallah is in on it. Wow. Im really sorry, felllas. You put a lot of work into this for a year and a half and for what? All those hopes and dreams that youd finally concocted a false scandal which would stick are crashing and burning. Not that any of you will acknowledge it.
