MBT asks Dy CM Mohammed Mehmood Ali to take action against Exhibition Society: Hyderabad, December 28: The Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) on Sunday demanded stern action against the All India Industrial Exhibition Society for showing disrespect to the Urdu language and distorting history to sideline the contribution of Last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan and other founder members. Making a representation to Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali at his residence on Sunday, MBT leader and Ex-Corporator Amjed Ullah Khan alleged that the Exhibition Society members have adopted a communal approach and trying to distort history. He reminded that the “Numaish-E-Masnooat Mulki” was started by a group of Osmania University Graduates in the year 1938. The first Numaish was originally organised to mark the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of rule of Last Nizam. The founding members include Barristers Mir Ahmad Ali Khan and Mir Akbar Ali Khan, Mohammed Abdul Wahab, Abdul Raheem, Mohammed Ali Khan, MA Mahmood Ali, Lecturer City College, OU and Mohammed Farooq, H.C.S. The Last Nizam himself inaugurated the Numaish, which was started to raise money for education of poor students. The first income through Numaish was Two rupees and fifty paisa (Rs/ 2.50). The then Municipal Commissioner Nawab Mehdi Nawaz Jung Bahadur rendered several services for the Numaish while Sri Akbar Hyderi, exhorted all OU graduates to support the initiative. It was in 1946 when the then Prime Minister of Hyderabad Sir Mirza Ismail shifted the Numaish to its present location at Nampally. In 1956, the Exhibition Society came into existence and the Numaish was renamed as All India Industrial Exhibition. The MBT leader alleged that the present members of the All India Industrial Exhibition Society have sidelined the contributions of all the founding Members and their pictures, including the photos of Last Nizam, was not installed in any of the 18 educational institutions being run by the Society. The exhibition has been projecting Shanker Ji as the lone founder of Exhibition Society while ignoring the contribution of others. Similarly, the pictures of none of the founding members or Nizam figure in the posters and banners of platinum jubilee celebrations. Urdu language too has been completely removed by the Society members. Amjed Ullah Khan said that the present land was given by the State Government to the Exhibition Society for charitable purposes. Therefore, it has every right to intervene in its affairs and correct it for the mistakes that are bound to create disorder in the society. He also demanded that the All India Industrial Exhibition be renamed as “Telangana Numaish” as this is the first Numaish after the formation of Telangana State to preserve the Telangana Culture. The Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mehmood Ali has assured to look into the demands and said he would seek an explanation from the Society on the issues raised by Amjed Ullah Khan and also speak to the present President of the AIIE Society Sri Etala Rajender Minister for Finance, Govt of Telangana.
