MEANWHILE... With the ultimatum given to the Nigerian president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan by the so-called northern elders and a critical analysis of the whole northern political calibre ( with the exception of a few), I am left with only one conclusion. The word CLUELESS best describes them. I am a full blown northerner and if reincarnation were a reality, I would opt to be returned as one without batting an eyelid. Across different platforms, dialogues and scenarios, I have diligently and notoriously defended the Arewa cause as is required of every true son of the soil and I will continue to do so as long as I live, in line with upholding truth, justice and fairness for the region. Therefore, anything that does not reflect these virtues, will not sit well with me and no amount of northern blood in me, will deter me from voicing out my opinion regardless of whose ox is gored. The northern elders have blundered and mis-cued. Since the beginning of the insecurity or rather, ever since the insecurity issue came to the front burner, the battle line was drawn between northerners and southerners. Each side seizes every opportunity to blame the other and like sheep being led to the abattoir for slaughter, the masses follow, not on the basis of reason and logic, but on the basis of ethnicity and sheer hatred. Thus exacerbating the division and hatred that exists and threatens the unity of a once great nation envied around the world for its multi-ethnic and multi-religious tolerance. Now, the very people or so-called leaders that are looked upon as the pillars needed to erect this collapsing behemoth of a country called Nigeria, are the same ones undermining and trying to pull the rug from underneath it with careless and divisive utterances. It is shameful that the lives of our daughters and sisters will be factored in as a condition for 2015. It is easy to point fingers at the president for what is happening in the country, but what makes you different from him. If I am to choose a lesser evil, I will choose him rather than you. You old twigs are the reason why the north is in the deplorable state that it finds itself therefore serving as a fertile ground for such nefarious activities to thrive. What have you contributed towards the development of the north? What have you done to eradicate the large scale poverty, illiteracy and diseases prevalent in the north? What have you done to engage the youths? What meaningful contributions or achievements can a once great region boast of in this era? We have nothing except our past glories to show and all thanks to your insatiable greed and appetite for illicit wealth enjoyed by only you, your immediate families and cronies. Now that the key to the treasury has finally left your grip, you are trying so desperately to rally the same people you have impoverished for decades to your side against someone who is playing the same game you created. Pathetic! Let me be frank, you are all part and parcel of what has bedevilled that part of the country. You are nothing but a bunch of selfish, ungrateful, pathetic and hypocritical parasites who have fed on and exploited the unflinching obedience and support the northern masses have accorded you. Our sufferings have been brought upon us by you. YES you, the northern elites/elders/leaders. So please, do us all a favour. Put your house in order first or SHUT UP!
