MEDIA ADVISORY: HOBOKEN TO HOST CURLING ON THE WATERFRONT, UNVEIL ICONIC “XLVIII” SCULPTURE The City of Hoboken and the Hoboken Events Committee welcome members of the media and any interested parties to come by Pier A on Hoboken’s scenic waterfront Tuesday, January 28 from 2-4 p.m. to throw a few stones on the Curling Sheet. Food and beverages will be available as part of the event. For the week leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII, Hoboken looks to embrace the cold and enjoy outdoor winter activities, encouraging residents and visitors to do the same. The event on January 28 will coincide with the unveiling of Hoboken’s iconic “XLVIII” numerals, positioned at the end of Pier A with the New York City skyline as a backdrop, making Hoboken a must-see attraction for anyone in town for the big game — just minutes from Midtown Manhattan, and a few steps away from the PATH and New Jersey Transit Terminal. The 2013 New Jersey State Football Champion Hoboken Redwings, as well as the marching band and cheerleaders, will be on hand to participate in the unveiling. Meanwhile, Hoboken’s Curling Sheet on Pier A will be open to the public immediately after the ceremony and throughout the whole week.
