MEDIA ALERT CONTACT: Ari Merretazon: (c) 215- 850-1699 Veteran Lawsuit To Be filed At Noon Requiring the City to Stop the Veteran Service Scandal and Cover Up Philadelphia, PA (August 25, 2014) Ari Merretazon, 1st Vice President, Pointman Soldiers Heart Ministry, along with members of the ministry and supporters, will file a federal a complaint and emergency petition today to enjoin the state of Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veteran Affairs to appoint a director of veterans affairs for the county of Philadelphia. The other defendants in the lawsuit include City Council President Darrell Clarke, Mayor Michael Nutter, Councilman David Oh, Councilman Curtis Jones, and Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell. Copies of the lawsuit, citing violations of 28 U.S.C. Section 1331, and Section 1361, will be available to the media at a noon press conference in front of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, located at 6th & Market Street. Merretazon said, “because these issues affect all veterans, I will ask the court to certify my lawsuit as a class action because a) the questions of law and fact common to class members predominate over any questions affecting only individual members; b) the claims or defenses are typical of the claims and defenses of the class; c) the suit fairly and adequately protects the interest of the class; d) and a class action is superior to other available methods for adjudicating the controversy set forth in the complaint.” This lawsuit comes after veterans rallied in front City Hall, Saturday, drawing attention to what the ministry calls “The Philadelphia Veterans Service Scandal and Cover Up.”
