MEDIA RELEASE AIR NIUGINI TO CELEBRATE 40 YEARS OF OPERATIONS. National airline, Air Niugini will be selling 40,000 seats on the domestic sector with a 60 percent discount as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations in November this year. Chief Executive officer, Mr Simon Foo said the airline’s focus this year is to improve service delivery on the domestic sector and it was timely to give back something to the domestic travelers, coinciding with the airline’s anniversary. Mr Foo said “ Air Niugini will be making available up to 40,000 seats on the domestic sector with a 60 percent discount for travel between 01st September and 01st December 2013. It is an opportunity for our customers on the domestic sector to purchase tickets now for travel between the dates mentioned.” Apart from the 60 percent discount and the availability of 40,000 seats, Air Niugini will also be giving away 40 tickets to lucky people who travel between 01st September and 01st October this year on both the domestic and international sectors. Names of passengers who travel during this period will be drawn on 01st November 2013 to reward the lucky winners. Long serving staff of Air Niugini will also be recognized. This will be followed by an open day to be held on Saturday 02nd November at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby. The general public is invited to attend and see the range of activities on display by various departments within Air Niugini. “ Eight staff members including a female who have been with Air Niugini from day one will be recognised. Those who have been with the airline for 25 years and above will also be recognized for their contribution and loyalty towards Air Niugini.” Mr Foo said the open day is an opportunity for the public to talk to Air Niugini personnel from Flight Operations, Engineering, Marketing and Human Resources to learn more about Air Niugini and the many opportunities within the airline. Airline industry partners such as Boeing, Bombardier, Fokker, ATR will also display their products and be on board to talk to the public. Air Niugini commenced operations on 01st November 1973 when the first Fokker F27 Friendship lifted off Jacksons Airport on a flight to Lae, Rabaul and Kieta.
