MEDIA RELEASE: On Sunday, August 10, 2014 at approximately 12:15 AM, the Davenport Police Department was dispatched to the 500 block of E. 13th Street, reference an individual laying in a yard suffering from a suspected gunshot wound. Davenport Patrol Units along with EMS personnel responded and found a male who had sustained a serious injury. The individual was treated at the scene and then transported to Genesis East Hospital, and subsequently died as a result of the injuries. Detectives responded to the scene and are currently conducting an investigation into the events surrounding the incident. An autopsy is being scheduled and the name of the victim will not be released pending notification of the family. Any further updates will be sent when they become available.
