MEET LALUA!! Lalua, whose name is pronounced La-loo-ah, spent - TopicsExpress

MEET LALUA!! Lalua, whose name is pronounced La-loo-ah, spent over seven months in the shelter awaiting her fate. As you will soon find out, Destiny played a very big role. It was in mid-November that two-year-old Pit Bull mix Laula arrived at the Chester County Animal Care & Control shelter in South Carolina. Even with her being spayed, her puppy-like looks and her beautiful markings, she lingered at the shelter all through the holidays. Then on January 11th, Lalua was adopted. However, the next day she was returned to the shelter. On a heartworm retest on January 19th, Lalua tested heartworm positive. As an incentive for a rescue to take Lalua, on February 25th, RADAR provided an offer to cover her heartworm treatment costs. Despite endless networking, month after month Lalua had no adopter or rescue interest. Each time the shelter reached capacity, Laluas life was on the line. Fortunately, each time enough dogs got out of the shelter to spare Lalua. But time was running out. Lalua was on the June 23rd short list of dogs to be euthanized. On June 19th, Destiny Shell with the Virginia chapter of the Lake Charles Pit Bull Rescue offered to have her rescue take Lalua IF a foster could be found. A foster came forward in Chester County. But then on June 23rd, the foster backed out. Destiny decided Lalua had had enough of a roller coaster ride with her life, and that she would foster Lalua herself, either until another foster is found or Lalua is adopted. Lalua had her heartworm treatment done on July 1st. A few days later Lalua was safely in her new foster home with Destiny. These were some of the things we were told about Lalua: She absolutely loves her toys! This girl loves to play. She is active and focused. Shes good with people, doesnt care about other dogs and non-reactive to cats. Shes good on a leash & eats calmly. Lalua is so sweet!
