MEMORY - My favorite happened to me when I was about 4, we were on our way to Bay City Texas to my Aunts from North Mississippi and we stopped in the middle of the night (or so it seemed) at a little grocery/gas station in the middle of nowhere La. This was in the 60s we didnt have seat belts and we had 4 kids plus 2 parents in a Chrysler New Yorker and being the baby I was short enough to stretch out in the back window and sleep, they woke me up for a potty break. Mom was a strickler on every body going potty when we stopped for gas even if we didnt have to go we had to TRY. I was the last one in the only bathroom and when I came out they were GONE no car in front of the pumps, no body in the store but the old man behind the counter and his crony who looked like Mr. Green Jeans. I did what any small child does when they realise they are lost or abandoned and started to cry which propelled the old codgers to heights of hilarity trying to cheer up a terrified crying toddler who just wanted her momma and daddy or even her mean older sister and brothers, any familiar face would do. It felt like I was there hours and hours but I only had time to drink a 6 oz coke and eat a cookie when they frantically drove up and ALL of them rushed in looking for me. Mother thought I was with Donnie who was my designated potty stop buddy, HE thought I was with Daddy and Rickey and Karen didnt pay attention they were still sleepy. After this we had to count before daddy could start the car... He was 1, Mama 2, Donnie 3, Rickey 4, Karen 5 and I HOLLERED 6 and then we were off.
