MERRY CHRISTMAS TO OUR LOYAL TNACC MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. LETS MAKE 2015 A YEAR TO REMEMBER!! LETS TAKE A LOOK AT SOME (NOT ALL) OF THE PROBLEMS WITH EDUCATION REFORM IN TENNESSEE As you are all aware Governor Haslam has set up a review team to take a deep look at our current K-12 education standards. He has made it very clear this is not an attempt to remove Common Core from TN schools. He continues to support untested education reform policy with no regard for our children or the expressed concerns of parents. In other words he knows better than we do. This attitude that the government knows what is best for our children permeates at all levels of government from the school board to DC and it is time parents stand up and take back our parental authority. But parents must be prepared to also take back parental responsibility too. If not now when? If not us who? Problem #1: Governor Haslams Review Team The review team is heavily slanted and biased in support of Common Core so right off the bat we have a problem. Below is some background on the members of the review team. The website created for feedback on the standards is a smoke and mirror presentation to make it appear as if public opinion is welcome. Please tell me how many people in the public or even in our education system are truly qualified to provide feedback on over 2000 standards covered in this project? This is an exercise straight from the Delphi Technique handbook. This is how they stamp their dance card. This is how they can turn around and tell us how Tennesseans had input into the new standards. What input? Did they ask for our opinion? No they asked us to provide feedback in a way that none of us is qualified to provide. And lets not forget one of the members of this review team has just been appointed as our TN State Education Commissioner (Candice McQueen). Although the school she came from does not use Common Core (gee I wonder why....is this another case of it is good enough for your kids but not good enough for ALL kids?) she will push Common Core hard. She has staunchly supported it in the past and she will strongly push it down our throats in the future. What WE need to push is local control and legislation that supports OPTING OUT of high stakes testing. LIST OF MEMBERS Problem #2: Haslam hires SREB (Southern Regional Education Board) to coordinate the Review Team Sounds all nice and professional doesnt it? SREB has received about $12 million from Bill Gates to promote Common Core. No bias here now is there? Also, Governor Bill Haslam is listed on SREBs 2013 IRS 990 form as a Board member. No bias here now is there? This might all be legal but it surely doesnt give a good impression of unbiased transparency. I feel this is conflict of interest for any Governor that sits on the board then hires this group. They also created the High Schools That Work program. Here is a recent document from SREB. All sounds so nice doesnt it? Helping our children prepare for success in the work place. Gee how did I ever become successful in my career without all this garbage??? But one factor they NEVER talk about. Who gets to determined what career future generations will pursue? Will it be the individual or will it be predetermined for them?? The words human capital keeping ringing in my ears. Lets not leave out CTE. They were just in Nashville hosting a summit. The article below about CTE illustrates the push to career path our children and how they are working with the College Board. SREB DOCUMENT GATES GRANTS TO SREB SREB IRS 990 2013 CTE CAREER CLUSTERS-AP COURSES Problem #3 - WIOA (Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act) Did you know in July 2014 President Obama signed WIOA into law? Did you know that each state had to develop a workforce plan by March 2015? Could this be the REAL reason for the Haslam review team? We are no longer educating our children we are having them trained for a job. A job that, in the future, will be determined by the workforce demands not the dreams and desires of our children. By then those dreams and desires will have been destroyed.....molded into the utopian dream of the elitists. Just saying..... PLAYBOOK FOR CREATING EFFECTIVE STATE PLANS Problem #4: Measurement Inc. (the new assessment company hired to replace PARCC) During the last legislative session TN ended their relationship with PARCC. Great you say?? Everyone was so excited. Except me. I told people not to get excited because every testing company is aligned with CC and PARCC or SBAC is always hiding in the background. Measurement Inc. works with Pearson. The MI website has a section for Psychometric Services. Pearson donated $1 million to the U of Texas to create the Psychometric Institute. I am sure I dont have to explain what Psychometric means. That was my first red flag about Measurement Inc. Meausrement Inc also contracts their work out to AIR (American Institutes for Research) which is a testing company that specializes in behavioral testing and questions to drive and measure desired behaviors. They use adaptive testing techniques. AIR is also associated with the UN and The Open Society (George Soros). AIR is also partners with Smarter Balance. Smarter Balance is the other testing company that was funded by the federal government to the tune of $360 million of our tax dollars to create assessments aligned to CC and to deliver student level data to the federal government. So in other words all Haslam did was change the color of the lipstick on the pig and bought TN a fatter, uglier pig than we had before. Out with PARCC and in with the more devious, more dangerous AIR/SBAC under the front name of Measurement Inc. I believe MI is a real company I just believe they are a front organization for AIR/SBAC. Now to make matters worse AIR has leased assessment questions from Utah to be used in TN schools (gee and arent we being told they would create our new assessments? I didnt hear anyone say anything about purchasing questions from another state did you? Nothing suspicious here now is there? Utah assessment program is called SAGE and AIR spent $2.3 (for the first year) million of TN dollars to purchase assessment questions from Utah. WTH??? So much for standards and assessments created in TN for TN. SAGE is aligned with Common Core so again that tells you Haslam and his administration have no intentions of every eliminating Common Core. Oh but TN has done so well since implementing CC....so we are told. Please remember...when he talks about our wonderful success he is talking about the last NAEP results in 2013 (we improved a whopping 2.2% from 2011). Well first, we did not have CC in the NAEP testing grades in 2013. And the 2013 NAEP shows a large increase in the achievement gap. Gee how come he doesnt share that information with the public? The ASD and Charters were supposed to fix that.......ooooops another error in judgment? No this is how it is all planned. They knew when they were selling us their poison that Charters and ASD had nothing to do with closing the achievement gap or helping our poor children. It has everything to do with MONEY and shutting down the majority of our traditional public schools. Which also means no elected school boards. See, they think the problem with education is elected school boards. Of course, school boards are the problem.....now why didnt we think of that? School boards only present a problem for the bureaucrats that want total control and the school board stands in their way. The school board is the only true voice parents have. Now do parents utilize their rights through the school board.....no they do not and this must change. These bureaucrats do not want public input or control. They all know better than the stupid parents so when we get rid of the elected school board they can do whatever THEY want and what are parents going to do about it? Vote them out of office? You cannot get rid of appointed people by a vote. You are stuck with them until they step out of line and get canned by the person that appointed them. As you look at the documents below on Psychometrics you will see that we are training for jobs not educating our children any longer. These tests will help them determine where your child and future children can best serve the future workforce regardless of their own desires it will come down to what the data says they can do. CONTRACT AIR-TN-UTAH MEASUREMENT INC & TN AIR STINKS OF SAGE PEARSON AND PSYCHOMETRICS WHAT IS PSYCHOMETRICS WHAT ARE PSYCHOMETRIC TESTS Problem #5: Tennessees involvement with Sir Michael Barber and Pearson Were you aware that in 2010 TN Dept. of Ed. signed a contract with US EDI (United States Education Delivery Institute) to implement Common Core in the state of TN. They were the only company considered. US EDI is also the baby of Sir Michael Barber of Pearson and a British citizen that was equal to Arne Duncan under Tony Blair. The contract even talks about his work under Tony Blair of the UK. Now tell me why it is this is the only company that could deliver Common Core in Tennessee? Why is it that we needed to hire a company to do this? Sir Michael Barber also spoke at the opening ceremony of SCORE (Gates funded mouthpiece for CC in TN). Sir Michael Barber also created a process called DELIVEROLGY. One of the strategies of DELIVEROLOGY is to make reform irreversible. Hmmmmm........could this be why EVERYTHING under the sun has to align with Common Core.......making it irreversible?? You bet it is. David Coleman (one of the confessed unqualified writers of the CC ELA standards) and Sir Michael Barber are friends and I believe Coleman is the front man for Barber. There is no way Coleman wrote the Common Core standards. Remember now......Barber served in the British Parliament and Coleman was a Rhodes Scholar (Coleman attended Cambridge and Oxford) during that time. Coleman and Barber served as consultants for the BIG DATA company McKinsey & Co. Oh I could go on and on connecting dots but you get the picture. Barber is a globalist who does not believe in borders and he feels education is to change attitudes and beliefs. He also believes we need 1 set of standards for the world and he loves Common Core. Common Core is global folks it is not just in America (Bosnia, Middle East, North Africa to name a few countries that are implementing CC) .......oh gee did they forget to tell you that at the pep rallies in support of Common Core??? You know those standards that our Governors all got together and agreed on. As my dad would say we are being fed a bunch of blarney. US EDI CONTRACT BARBER AND TN PERFECT TOGETHER Problem #6: Broad Foundation The Elie and Edythe Broad foundation is one of the 3 major funders of Common Core and Charter Organizations. Eli and Edythe Broad are very wealthy and very dangerous. Eli Broad believes education should be privatized and run like a business. After all education is a $500 billion industry in the US alone. So of course he feels the way he does. Just think of all that untapped money just sitting their ripe for the picking. Eli Broad created the Broad Superintendent Academy. Here they enroll progressives from all walks of the business world, train them (paying for all expenses and even helping pay for portions of starting salaries for their graduates) and then find them positions of power in the education field. Jim McIntyre the Knox County Superintendent and several members of his staff and Chris Barbic are graduates of the Broad Superintendent Acadmeny. McIntyre in 2006 and Barbic in 2011. So now we have Chris Barbic, trained to privatize education, running our Achievement School District. Now what do you think he is really doing? Do you think he is really trying to fix broken schools? No he is not. He is here to destroy the public education system like they did in New Orleans. Oh yes and they love Teach For America teachers. The goal is to transition most of our traditional public schools to Charters (chaching, chaching $$$$) using TFA drones in the classroom. After all with Common Core and computers in the hands of every student do we really need good teachers? No we need facilitators and people to monitor and track every movement, every word, every facial expression our children make. This is another danger of replacing books and teachers with computers. Computers are a tool. Using them to replace books and teachers is extremely dangerous. PARENTS GUIDE TO BROAD HOW TO TELL IF YOU ARE INFECTED WITH THE BROAD VIRUS Problem #7: Legislation Doesnt it seem odd that 3 (Gresham, Forgety, Tracy) staunch supporters of Common Core from the last legislative session have come out months before the new session with legislation supposedly against Common Core? READ THEM CAREFULLY. Well if you know the plan it is not odd at all. These bills were meant to get out in front of the opposition. These bills are meant to align with Governor Haslams plan to introduce the results of his standard review team ( a new name for CC with a few commas moved around). These bills are smoke and mirror legislation just like Greshams data protection bill from the last legislative session. Dolores Gresham (SB4) and John Forgety (HB3) have NOT changed their stand on Common Core. They are the strategic team sent to make sure no real legislation to stop Common Core gets passed. Greshams bill which creates yet ANOTHER unelected committee to review standards and a weak attempt at putting Common Core to bed by canceling an MOU that has been fulfilled and no longer means anything. Her bill sets up yet another unelected, appointed committee (of course to be determined by the very people that support Common Core). Unelected councils, boards, commissions etc. is not the American system of governance. It is a system that promotes control over its citizens without any way for citizens to change the players when they over step their authority or make decisions not in the best interest of the citizens. Another appointed committee is not what we need to address our education concerns. Notice her bill has no interim standards to replace Common Core. This means CC stays in place until Governor Haslams review team is finished. Section 13 of her bill describes a weak attempt at addressing Common Core. Cancel the MOU with CCSSO. That MOU has already been fulfilled and expired. Rep. Forgetys bill also has no mention of an interim set of standards. It also suggests we need a committee to approve future standards. This is in keeping and aligns itself with Sen. Greshams bill. He suggests the committee and she sets up the structure of the committee. Notice how his bill says we will not allow federal standards in TN. But he is not referring to Common Core. Did he say CC were federal standards? No he did not because if you ask him he will tell you CC is not a federal set of standards. So to us he is referring to Common Core but not to the legislature because after all CC was state led and is not a federal program. But just incase some federal program tries to push their will on us in the future Rep. Forgety has come to our rescue. What a CROCK of poopoo!! So read the words carefully. WE THE PEOPLE will bring in our own experts to evaluate whatever new standards are forced upon us!!! I can assure you whatever comes out of Haslams review team and this proposed committee will align with Common Core completely and we will be prepared to prove that. TNACC will do nothing to support SB4 or HB3. At this point, while we continue to fight, parents must take their kids out of the system. We need legislation to restore true Local Control (most dont even realize what it is because we have been stripped of it for decades) and legislation to allow parents to OPT OUT of high stakes testing (this will also help to stop the data collection). HB3 (Rep. Forgety/Sen. Tracy) SB4 (Sen. Gresham) Problem 8: Islam in Our Classroom and Pearson Take the time to watch this 1 hour presentation created by a father from Bristol, TN that knew nothing about Common Core or what was going on until one day when his daughter came home and told him they had just started 3.5-4 weeks of study on Islam in her 7th grade Social Studies class. And there has been no stopping him once he found out that what his daughter was telling him was true. If you want to see what is actually being used in TN classrooms please watch this video. Mr. Craig Honeycutt from Bristol is the creator of this presentation. He just spoke in front of Senator Dolores Gresham (Chair of the TN Senate Education Committee) VIDEO THE NC STORY Problem #9: Pearson I could fill volumes about Pearson. Some of the above gives you some insight but they are EVERYWHERE and in every facet of education. They are not an American company sharing American values. They are a global organization based out of the UK and funded heavily by middle eastern concerns. I believe the video by Craig Honeycutt will also give you an insight to Pearson. I will attach a couple of articles but know one thing. They are heavily imbedded in TN and they are a CANCER we must demand that our legislators kick to the curb. PEARSON ARTICLE Problem #10: Parents and what to do Do you really think Haslam, Gresham or Forgety are going to REALLY repeal Common Core? No they are not. They CANNOT. This is not an American reform it is global (Bosnia, the Middle East and North Africa all pushing Common Core) and bigger than them. They have sold the hearts, minds and souls of our children and only WE can get them back. It is time for many parents to prioritize. If there is any way you can home school or put your children in a Christian Classical school that takes no federal money then please do so. Reach out to us for help if you are considering taking the home school route. Even working parents can home schools. If there is no alternative for your children except the government system then be the parent teachers HATE. Demand to OPT OUT of all surveys and TCAP tests (high states tests...we have an OPT OUT form). Demand to see what your children are learning. Demand our children have books not computers and read those books. GET ENGAGED. Be at the school board meetings. Run for school board. GET ENGAGED. REALLY ENGAGED. Take back your parental authority. NOW look at the opening statement above.........If Youre Not Outraged...You Are Not Paying Attention. Read it over and over and I hope you become more outraged each time you read it. Because unless parents start getting outraged the future for our children, grandchildren and our country looks mighty bleak. While we fight this evil we must do all that we can to protect our children. If we can educate enough children at home we might just raise enough future Americans to carry the fight for us someday. If we do not do our job as parents then the future of this country does not look promising. BE SURE TO JOIN US IN NASHVILLE ON JANUARY 13, 2015 FOR THE FIRST DAY OF SESSION. WEAR A CC T SHIRT OR TACK A PIECE OF PAPER TO YOUR SHIRT LETTING OUR LEGISLATORS KNOW WE ARE HERE TO DEMAND THEY REPAL COMMON CORE.
