MESSAGE FROM PROF. DR. AUNG TUN THET ====================================== *** Please Share This News *** Dear Citizens, I have been promoting Socially Responsible Business in Myanmar. Business while making profit must also take care of the people and the planet we live in. This is why I would like encourage you join the UN Global Compact (UNGC), which is a global initiative promoted by the United Nations. It is the largest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiative in the world. The UNGC has 10 principles which are based on Human Rights, Labour Rights, Environment and Ant-Corruption. To join the UNGC, you need to apply on line. It is a relatively easy procedure. You visit the following website unglobalcompat.org , and then follow the instructions. After making your application, the UNGGC Office in New York, will let you know that you are accepted as a member of the UNGC. This means that you can use the UNGC logo in your business cards, Companys Logo, Office Premises, etc. Any business large or small can join. Civil Society Organisations and NGOs can also join. You have only obligation by joining the UNGC. You have to prepare and submit every year the Communication of Progress (CoP), which describes what you have done in the areas of Human Rights, Labour Rights, Environment and Ant-Corruption. Currently we have over 100 Myanmar Companies and Organisations who are members of the UNGC. With them we have formed the Myanmar UNGC Local Network. I am hoping that by responding to my message we will have at least 1,000 Myanmar companies/ organisations joining the UNGC.
