MESSAGE It is indeed welcome that the Andaman & Nicobar Administration will be observing July 2014 as Anti Dengue Month with the primary purpose of spreading information about Dengue and the ways and means to control it. Dengue is a major public health problem in these Islands. There is no specific treatment for Dengue and no preventive vaccine to control it. The only way to prevent Dengue from being transmitted is to control the breeding of the mosquito which spreads it. Fortunately, this is something that can be achieved by each and every one of us. I, therefore, appeal to the people of this Territory and to all Government Departments, the Municipal Council, PRIs, Voluntary Organisations and to all School children to ensure that their homes, offices, schools and environment are kept clean so that the mosquitoes cannot breed.
