MESSAGE TO BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN VOCATION CAMPS ACROSS NIGERIA - TopicsExpress

MESSAGE TO BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN VOCATION CAMPS ACROSS NIGERIA IN THIS MONTH OF DECEMBER. I hope this message reaches you in good health and faith. I thank Allah SwT for giving me the opportunity to write. May His blessing continue to be upon the noble prophet Muhammad, his pure Household, his noble Companions, and all those who follow them in goodness up to the Day of Judgement. I greet you with the warmest Islamic greeting of peace, as-salam alaykum warahmatullah. Permit me to say how incredibly delighted I am to realize that some set of Muslim Youths have willingly chosen to attend the annual ijtimah again this year for spiritual rejuvenation. This is because at Literacy Champion Foundation, I have a pivotal purpose to promote literacy and enthusiasm for books and for reading in general. Each time I meet friends who are gifted in acting out their passion for reading on Facebook, I make it mandatory upon myself to encourage them to refrain completely from acting in character as bibliophiles without actually making efforts towards buying a copy of the books they promote. I also write to urge you to stop brandishing books at the camp under the guise of reading and to give you an insight into the benefits that lie in waiting when you programme your life to become reflective readers. I also know that some people come to the camp but spend a lot of their time on browsing and chatting with friends on the internet without ever bothering about spiritual rejuvenation. This are the set of youths who prefer to spend time following television dramas, talent shows and soaps. This message is a reminder that the activities that debar you from reading are activities that you could snap out of by cultivating a reading culture. But, the negative influence of television and the new-media on their subliminal consciousness had gone very high. So, they found it very difficult from disengaging themselves from frivolous activities. Thus, I do not wish to talk down to you from the lofty podium of a motivational speaker who would only gabble away at the slightest opportunity, but as a brother in faith who is willing to relate with you in terms that you will understand. I wish to advice that reading is good for you. I know that the similitude of this simple advice is like a cut too close to the bone of some lazy youths, but the advice must be given. So, let us have a lyrical guide for resilience towards developing the reading culture. I will like you all to join me in singing along: My Books, My Boon Companions Reading of book is part of me every day, Reading of book in my life is non-negotiable I will never keep a friend who dislikes reading! A reader today is a leader tomorrow. Reading of book will add value to my life, Reading of book will take me to greater height I will never live my life without reading! The more I read, the more the things I will know. Reading of book enables me to excel Reading of book propels me to reach the top I will never trivialize the thrills of reading! The books I read are my boon companions. Read your books and pray for Nigeria.
