MESSIS REVENGE FOR MARADONA...24 YEARS IN THE MAKING?! The Brazil v Germany semi-final is about to start. The first time in 24 yrs the semi final is interesting for an Argentine supporter. It was 24 years ago I watched my first WCup and got hooked up to football as an 8 year old. Maradona was ‘God of Football’ then and I can still feel the heartbreak of seeing Argentina lose to Germany (WGermany then) in the final. Maradona in tears after the final is etched in memory and I have been looking for revenge against Germany for 24 years. The next WC I had to watch him make an ignominious exit and the WC has never been the same again. Argentina has always flattered to deceive never even reaching the Semi final again. There was hope in 2010 again when Maradona himself came back to the WC, albeit as a coach and this time there was somebody as capable and talented as him on the field. Messi was on top of his game atleast in club football. But Maradona was not as good a coach as he was a player and again instead of getting revenge against Germany, Argentina, Messi and Maradona were royally thrown out of the WC. I am actually supporting Germany today for the first time ever. For one as an Argentine supporter you should anyway ‘hate’ Brazil (Neymar, Pele Who?) but also because I want a Germany v Argentina Final and finally after 24 years a revenge for Maradona through the genius of none other than Messi the new ‘God of Football’.
