#MH370: PUTRAJAYA, March 14 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airlines (MAS) appreciated all media teams for being extremely supportive regarding the MH370 flight incident, especially in providing the public with the latest and most in-depth information. MAS Senior Vice President, Strategic Communications Datuk Najmuddin Abdullah said the media had been a great pillar of strength to them. We must commend you and your teams for doing a fantastic job in responsibly reporting nothing but the truth. MAS truly appreciates this from the bottom of our heart, he said in a statement distributed to the media here Friday. However, MAS requested members of the media to respect the privacy of grieving families. We have been receiving feedback from the families that they are being harassed for information from the media. Some journalists have even turned up at their doorstep aggressively seeking for information and photos that they did not wish to share, he said. Najmuddin said MAS primary focus at this time was to care for the families, who were still in shock and coming to terms to what was happening to their loved ones. Our staff, especially the pilots have also not been spared in this frenzy. This is indeed very disheartening to us. We humbly plead you to allow these families space to come to terms with this developing situation. If they are willing to be interviewed, it will be totally fine by us, he added. MAS Flight MH370, carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew, vanished while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing about one hour after departing from the KL International Airport at 12.41 am on Saturday. It should have landed in Beijing at 6.30 am. Up to now, there is still no trace of the missing plane despite a massive multinational search. -- BERNAMA
