MHA Banquet Rescheduled Contact: Jayne Bordelon, 409-833-9657 RESCHEDULED DUE TO WACKY WEATHER FUNDRAISER TO BENEFIT MENTAL HEALTH AMERICA RESCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2014 The wacky weather in Southeast Texas, for the first time in 25 years, has forced the rescheduling of our Gala that was to be held Tuesday, January 28. The Board of Directors of Mental Health America of Southeast Texas announces that out of an abundance of caution for our honorees, guest speaker and our guests, our 53rd Annual Meeting and Gala has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 18, 2014. The Gala will still be held at the MCM Eleganté Hotel at 6:30 p.m. where we will honor the Junior League of Beaumont and Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeast Texas. The Julie Rogers Special Service Award - Junior League of Beaumont The Junior League of Beaumont will receive the 2014 Julie Rogers Special Service Award for making the world a better place in which to live, thereby fostering the purpose of Mental Health America of Southeast Texas. Doris & Dr. Harry Starr Award for Excellence – Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeast Texas Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeast Texas is being awarded the 2014 Doris & Dr. Harry Starr Award for Excellence for their history of exceptional service to the mental health community. Now we have a little more time if people would like to join in this celebratory evening. This is our most important fundraiser for the year and your contribution is vital to our program. The money raised provides free programming, education, referrals and advocacy in Southeast Texas. MHA works with schools, churches, and social support groups providing multi-media presentations on mental health wellness, illness, bullying, suicide, depression, and many more subjects. MHA also provides suicide prevention training and a suicide survivor’s support group.
