MHCI HANDS OVER SPORTS, GAMES AND EDUCATIONAL EQUIPMENT TO THABISO YOUTH CENTRE IN MAKOKOBA It was all smiles at Thabiso Youth Centre on Saturday (22 February 2014) as Makokoba Health Care Initiative Trust (MHCI) officially handed over sports, games and educational equipment to the centre. The ceremony was attended by Makokoba residents, the youths and MHCI representatives who included Netsai Moyo, Siphiwe Mhlanga, Normalisa Reeds, Kalambani Banda and Eneya Banda. The centre is located in Makokoba Township one of Bulawayos oldest suburbs and has produced some of the countrys notable soccer stars. MHCI is currently working on a project to revive the centre to its former glory and even better. The goods handed over include soccer balls, a volleyball net, a set of volleyball jerseys, two sets of soccer uniforms, a football carrier net, a kit bag, a ball pump, badminton rackets, crickets bats, basketballs and tennis balls. In addition, fifteen chairs, three computers, which will go a long in the teaching and learning of IT in todays world of fast changing technology, and various indoor games were also presented to the centre. The MHCI representative, Miss Siphiwe Mhlanga reiterated the Trusts commitment in helping Thabiso Youth Centre into becoming a world class youth centre. She also expressed the Trusts vision of empowering the youths through sports and education enabling them to pave a better future for themselves and the community. Speaking at the same occasion was Mr Nqwababa, one of the committee members of Thabiso Youth Centre. He expressed his gratitude to MHCI and appealed to all Zimbabweans across the board to help the youths of Makokoba. Our gratitude goes to the donors namely, Esrom Nyandoro for the soccer balls,Vladimir Balala for the soccer uniforms, Africa Dot Com for the computers, Beki Ruth Mthimkhulu-Jiya and her friends for footballs, basketballs and tennis balls and Makhox Brand administators for the chairs and indoor games. Lastly and most importantly our sincere gratitude goes to SBV Tours for the provision of our transport needs for this project.
