MICHAEL JACKSON: FROM HOLLYWOOD TO CHIBOK - Despite his problems (real & scripted), the closest idea to a Hollywood royalty, late Michael Jackson was known to be passionate about the welfare of kids. Perhaps, it was this passion that opened many doors for just as many people to exploit Jackson to get a piece of the huge cake success kept throwing his way. Im not into the merits (or lack of it) of the numerous cases Jackson fought to stay out of jail or, the hazy circumstances on which most of the cases were built. And, this is not a posthumous retrial to acquit Jackson of all the allegations that made the last chapter of his life depressive or even suicidal. Far as Im concern, his over dependence on propofol to help him feel and operate like a normal human being was an expression of disgust against a system he believed he fought hard to free from the shackles of modern slavery. Of course, Jackson could have gotten more kick out of cocaine or heroin, if his addiction was the normal Hollywood drive for kick. Im simply celebrating Jacksons sensitivity to the humanity and nature. No doubt, you will agree, to be a royalty one have to sacrifice most of the relevant instincts needed to make the world a better place. To be a Hollywood royalty, one have to sacrifice all of it. Thats where Jackson ruled. He died a commoner trapped in the body of a Hollywood royalty. His songs says a lot about his desperation to see an all inclusive planet that cares about all without class distinction. His Earth song clearly defined the unknown Michael against the famous Jackson. My choice of song (it actually provoked this piece) among the many of such in Jacksons library was the song They Dont Care About Us. It was a song that fits the sad situation of a world in the firm grips of a selfish few. For all the emotions this song provoke, Jackson might have produced it to protest Chibok. And yes, definitely he could have been an APC apologist singing about todays Nigeria.
