As the Microsoft Technical Support Engineer you will be responsible for Infrastructure, End Point, and Application support across the Staples environment. This includes support, maintenance, administration and incident resolution processes as well as providing assistance forservices such as File and Print, Network, End point and associated application services. The successful candidate will provide solutions to hardware and software problems to minimise the impact of technology outages to the business customers. Key responsibilities include: •Incident resolution across of all Staples applications and infrastructure •Adhere to change, incident and problem management processes •Determines technical and non-technical requirements and makes recommendations to Service Delivery Manager •Maintain and enhance current end point environment and infrastructure •Research, pilot and evaluate additions and alternatives to existing infrastructure that may add value to the business. •Monitor, administer and report on existing infrastructure through all available data sources, including Active Directory, NAGIOS/CACTI/SPLUNK, and VMware Infrastructure tools •Ensure current Windows based infrastructure remains in compliance with company standards and security requirements (including automated deployment of security bulletins and software updates) •Participate in design, documentation, construction and deployment of both client and server standard operating environmentsSupport, setup and maintain Staples fleet of multifunction devices and printers •Remain up to date with current and emerging Microsoft/Windows based technology/trends; assess their viability in making it easier for Staples to do business. •Participates in the acceptance of applications into the production environment and ensures that operating standards have been met •Assist in coordination of production systems redundancy/ availability levels including DR requirements •Logging, answering, resolving and updating all calls/requests from users within the service desk tool Knowledge, skills & experience: •Minimum 2 years hands on experience supporting a Microsoft end point environment •Experience administrating an Active Directory environment and experience administering Active directory group policy •Knowledge and experience supporting networks and network appliances such as routers, switches. •Previous experience supporting applications such as Microsoft exchange, and SCCM •Understanding of ITIL processes, including clear understanding of the change, incident and problem management processes. •MCP (Active Directory, Workstation or Server )or equivalent certifications.
