MID RANGE OUTLOOK (MONDAY/TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY): On Monday, the big - TopicsExpress

MID RANGE OUTLOOK (MONDAY/TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY): On Monday, the big high will shift to the Mid-Atlantic region, so the bitter winds will diminish somewhat, which will help take the edge off the cold temperatures in the middle 30s. The big high will have sailed away to the east over the ocean on Tuesday, opening the door for the approach of yet another cold front. Skies are expected to be mainly cloudy with southwest winds bringing temps back up into the low to mid 40s. A storm will be evolving in the central Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday and by Wednesday, the big question will be how that Gulf storm interacts with the cold front. The GFS model, which last night took this system right up toward us, has now again pushed the bulk the storm out of our area to the southeast. Meanwhile, for the third consecutive run the European model is taking this storm straight up the Atlantic seaboard -- a classic coast-hugger which could induce a significant rain and wind event . . . even perhaps some sleet or wet snow at the onset of the precip early in the day. At this point, I would give the nod toward the European solution based solely on its consistency, although five days out it is too soon to start talking about specifics regarding how this system might impact the start of the big holiday weekend.
