MILKOW is a brand name of products produced by the Caraga Dairy Project funded by Heifer International Philippines in partnership with the National Dairy Authority (NDA), Mindanao Island office. The Milkow products are produced by smallhold dairy farmers who benefited the first dairy livelihood project in the region. With the assistance of support entities like the LGU, government agencies, and other private sectors--farmers had able to produce fresh cows milk from the Dairy Cattle provided to them by the project. With 2 pregnant heifer as the initial dairy stock, individual farmers at present is producing an average of 15 liters raw milk from their 2 lactating cows. Practically, the dairy farmer is earning Php 315 daily gross income accounted to their ledger as member of the community dairy coop. Early morning, the farmers will manually milk their cows and deliver the raw product to the collection and processing center where the raw milk will be processed hygienically into: --> Pasteurized Fresh Milk bottled in 1 liter and 330 mL containers. Through gentle milk processing using a Bain-Marie method, distinct fresh milk taste and delicate nutrients in milk are preserved in every bottle of MILKOW Pasteurized Milk products. --> Flavored Pasteurized Milk (chocolate, melon, & strawberry) in 1 liter & 330 mL. Adding flavor to the raw milk product in order to capture the taste of the consumers especially the children--flavored pasteurized milk was made.
