MIMIKOS DEFECTION: UPU VINDICATED-DPCF Nothing can be truer than the age long aphorism that where an old man sees while sitting, a child cannot see even if he climbs the Iroko tree. These were the words of Hon Mudiaga Okorefe, the Delta State coordinator of Delta Progressives Change Forum, a political pressure group rooting for the Guber aspiration of Olorogun Otega Emerhor under the platform of the All Progressive Congress. It would be recalled that earlier this year the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), a socio-cultural cum political group of Urhobo colouration, in its wisdom and proper guidance made what is today known as the Uwiamugies Declaration ; seeking all politicians of Urhobo extraction to pursue their dreams true either the PDP or APC. The essence of it was not to promote ethnic politics but in recognition of the fact that there are only two political parties in Nigeria- others being their appendages. Moments later some, though not so important desperate and self seeking politicians went viral on air with unguarded and misleading vituperations against the hierarchy of our revered UPU, claiming they have a party antidotes to the mess the Urhobos have been subjected to over the years .Not so because they seek to provide an alternative credible leadership to the good people of Delta State but with prebendal and trading motives. Today, posterity has availed them over those who claimed that the Labour Party is an alternative party in the state. Those who claim that they have the blessings of Mr President to take over Delta State! Alas, the headquarters of Labour Party has collapse and its debris packed into the waste yards of the PDP. History does not repeat itself but, always remain afresh some permanent tendencies on the affairs of man. For those who are bent on still labouring in vain, today is your answer. For those who want to join formal landlords as tenants, time to be wise. For those who still believed GEJ wants to give Delta to one Day Dreamer, time to open your eyes! I ask you, if GEJ so much believe in the Labour Party, then why the pressure on Mimiko to defect the PDP? The eye that looks ground must see the nose. Mudiaga decried. The State Coordinator equally plead with those still wandering in the political wilderness of the Labour Party to make a U-turn and embrace the All Progressive Congress. According to him it is not how long you have gone on the wrong track that matters but, your ability to know your were going astray and turn back. The door of the APC is wide open for new entrants because it can never be like APC if it is not APC, he said. He urged all to shun agents of divisiveness who have continually made Urhobos to lick their wounds in spite of its numerical strength. I want to urge all Deltans and Urhobos in particular that the only sure way to alternative and impactful leadership is the APC. The big broom that we need to sweep the country clean, said Hon Okorefe. He proceeded by concluding that the Urhobos should learn from what an orphan party did to them in the past and urgently disown this party like Mimiko just did.
