MINISTER RIJAL ASSURES OF TIMELY CONSTITUTION Minister for Information and Communications Dr Minendra Rijal today said the Constituent Assembly is swiftly embarking on the direction of promulgating the new constitution on the stipulated date. Talking to NC Cadres in Gaushala, Mahottari district today, Minister Rijal urged the party cadres not to entertain any suspicion over the timely promulgation of the constitution reasoning that the parties are close to an agreement on the remaining disputed issues in the constitution-drafting. Also talking to the media persons in Janakpurdham , Minister Rijal assured that a new constitution will be promulgated by 22nd January, 2015. CONSTITUTIONS DRAFT IN OCTOBER: NC LEADER KC Nepali Congress central member Arjun Narsingh KC has said NC party is committed to writing the constitution with federalism. Talking to journalists at a press meeting organized by Nepal Press Union, Morang Chapter in Biratnagar today, he said the major political parties have been making utmost efforts to forge political consensus among the political parties in and out of the Constituent Assembly (CA). On the occasion, leader KC argued that forming the states on the basis of ethnic identity, and one madhes, one province is not possible from the geographical point of view. He also ruled out the need of high-level political mechanism, saying there is already the Constituent Assembly, the supreme body to draft the constitution. LEADER PRADHAN SUFFERS ANOTHER HEALTH HAZARD A towering personality of the countrys leftist-democratic movement, Sahana Pradhan, who had been hospitalized for four month due to infection in liver and stroke, has suffered another health hazard - pneumonia. Leader Pradhan, 88, has been sick for the past three years and receiving treatment at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Bayodha Hospital following her deteriorated health condition. INDIA ALWAYS READY TO HELP FOR NEPALS DEVELOPMENT: INDIAN HOME MINISTER SINGH Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said India is always ready to help Nepal for its socio-economic development. Before wrapping up his three-day Nepal visit today, Mr Singh said at a press meet that once Nepal government comes up with concrete plan for development, India is ready to extend help. Stating that India wishes peace, stability and prosperity in Nepal, Mr Singh said the relations between India and Nepal are pre-historic and very cordial and intimate. He further said the PDA on Upper Karnali Hydro Project is tremendous achievement to both Nepal and India. He also mentioned that the sixth meeting of the SAARC Ministers of Interior/Home agreed to be united to curb various crimes including terrorism. Indian Home Minister Singh had come to Nepal to attend the sixth meeting of the SAARC Ministers of Interior/Home. PARTY SHOULD BE RUN SYSTEMATICALLY: NC ACTING PRESIDENT POUDEL Acting President of the Nepali Congress (NC) Ram Chandra Poudel has said the party should be run systematically. Speaking at a programme organized in the capital to exchange greetings on the occasion of Dashain festival today, Vice-President Poudel said that groupism will ruin the party, so unity is a must. Speaking on a different note, he said that people have expected new constitution from the Nepali Congress. Also, addressing a proram at Narayangadh, leader Poudel said political parties are ready to carryout works as per the CA calendar to promulgate the new constitution on the slated time. He added that extensive discussions are underway to resolve the disputed issues including federalism, form of governance, judiciary and electoral system and all disputed issues seen in the constitution-writing will be settled within September 30. CPN-MAOIST PROTESTS PDA The CPN-Maoist has protested the project development agreement (PDA) the government signed with Indian company GMR on the Upper Karnali Hydro Power project, saying it was against countrys interest. The party said the project is being constructed with the focus more on export which is quite flawed. Issuing a press statement Chairman Mohan Baidhya said the project could be built on our own investment. He further said even the production capacity of the project was falsely reported. EASE ORGAN TRANSPLANTATION PROCESS, CHAIRMAN OLI URGES GOVERNMENT CPN UML Chairman KP Oli expressed his commitment to dedicate rest of his life serving people not only through politics but also through health sector, predominantly in the realm of organ transplantation. Chairman KP Oli, who has been surviving on the transplanted kidney for the last seven years, also recommended the government to pay attention towards making the organ transplantation free. Inaugurating a technology named Tacrolimus (a level measuring facility that ensures successful acceptance of transplanted organs by the body) at a programme organized by the Arogya Foundation, an organization working on the field of transplantation in Nepal, Leader Oli lauded the Foundations initiation to introduce such a sophisticated technology for the first time in the country. PM KOIRALA TAKES STOCK OF NEPALI WORKERS CONDITION Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has taken stock of the situation of the Nepali migrant workers in the Middle East, West Asia and North African countries with Nepali diplomats at a meeting held in Abu Dhabi today. Prime Minister Koirala, who is on his way to New York to attend the 69th General Assembly of the United Nations, inquired about Nepalis in foreign employment in the countries and discussed ways to resolve them with the Nepali diplomats. During the meeting, the Nepali diplomats shared about the labour-related problems and the efforts to be made by the Government of Nepal to resolve them. Nepali Ambassadors to the UAE, Saudi Arabia; Charge daffaires for Kuwait Oman, Qatar and Egypt apprised the Prime Minister of the situation of Nepali workers in their respective countries. On the occasion, the Ambassadors suggested that recommendation from the concerned Embassy before sending workers to the destination countries would help resolve half of the problems currently facing the Nepali workers. They said that problems related to passport, failure to get remuneration as per the contract and shortcomings in the adherence of the local law are some of the problems while the rate of people suffering as a result of using illegal mediators to go for foreign employment is on the rise. The Nepali diplomats also shared the data of Nepalis serving sentence in those countries, efforts being made to release them and the lack of necessary staff in the Embassies. Some 1.5 million Nepalis are believed to have been involved in foreign employment in those countries. Prime Minister Koirala is scheduled to leave for New York later tonight. Also today, the Prime Minister addressed an interaction with the representatives of different organisations of Nepali workers based in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The Prime Minister also said Nepal is building atmoshphere favourable for democracy, development, peace and political stability and the country is getting suppport, goodwill and copperation from the international community for teh same. On the occassion, Minister for Foreign Affairs Mahendra Bahadur Pandey urged Nepali wokers community to respect the law where they are working and work with we feeling. POLITICAL DIALOGUE COMMITTEE RESUMES WORK The Constitutional-Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee today renewed the process to give continuity to the effort of forging consensus on the contentious contents of the new constitution within the given extension of time. The Committee has been handed the deadline of September 30 to come clear with an agreement. The meeting held today took the decision to hold formal and informal meetings between political parties for agreement. After the meeting, Committee Chair Dr Baburam Bhattarai said that extensive efforts are being channeled to forge consensus in view of the limited time. Dr Bhattarai said that the next meeting was called for coming Wednesday and that efforts will be continued for formal and informal discussions during the intervening period. The Committee has delegated the task of holding informal meetings between senior political leaders and the concerned parties over the subjects of state restructuring, determination of form of governance, delegation of power and legal system to its Chairman Dr Bhattarai. NEMBANG COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY IN BETEL, CARDAMOM BUSINESS Chairman of the Constituent Assembly (CA), Subas Chandra Nembang, has said the new constitution will be promulgated on the slated time if the political parties are committed and dedicated towards it. Speaking at a program in Lalitpur today, CA chairman Nembang urged members of the Drafting and Dialogue Committees not to leave the capital and carry out works during Dashain festival as works regarding constitution writing have been expedited. COUNTRY WILL GET NEW CONSTITUTION ON SLATED TIME: VP JHA Vice-President Parmanand Jha has expressed belief that the country will get a new constitution within the slated time. At a programme organised by the Focus Nepal on the occasion of Dashain, Vice-President Jha stressed that a republican constitution should be promulgated on the slated time to take the country ahead towards the path of prosperity. Stating that the country cannot see political stability if the new constitution was not promulgated, he said the new constitution should be issued on the basis of consensus to maintain political stability. MMC DEFEATS SRI LANKA AIR FORCE Nepal’s Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) defeated Sri Lanka Air Force 2-1 in its opening match of the AFC President´s Cup being held in Sri Lanka today. Kavidu Ishan took lead for the Sri Lanka Air Force scoring a goal in fifth minute. However, MMC bounced back and leveled the score in 35th minutes with the goal from Shiva Shrestha. In 63rd minute, Anil Gurung converted penalty the team was awarded into a goal and sealed the match. MMC will play their second group game against International Turkmen-Turkish University Football Club (HTTU) of Turkmenistan. UNIFIED MAOIST The Standing committee member of Unified Maoist Nanda Kishor Pun has said a unity of revolutionary communist parties can play an important role in drafting a progressive constitution. At a greetings-exchange programme organized in Kathmandu today, leader Pun opined that it’s necessary to lead the party ahead by uniting the party and weakening the practice of intra-party groupism through ideological discussions.
