MINISTRY CHANGES VEHICLE REGISTRATION AT REQUEST OF THE OWNER - MOLEFHI Ministry of Transport and Communications changes the vehicle registration ownership details at the request of the authorised owner. This was said by Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Nonofo Molefhi, when responding to a question in Parliament from Kgalagadi North MP, Mr Philip Khwae. Mr Molefhi said the procedure was that the registration book must be signed by the current owner and proposed new owner. In case of companies and organisations, he said an official stamp and certified copies of the identity for both the current and new owners were required, adding that for citizens the national identity Omang was required whilst non-citizens required residence permit or exemption certificate or passport. Furthermore, Mr Molefhi said private companies and corporations or parastatals were required to have; certificate of incorporation for companies, certificate of registration (society number) for societies and number for parastatals. In addition, he said all vehicles with financial interest should be accompanied by letter of clearance from financial institutions which had financed the vehicle. In the case of diplomatic vehicles, Mr Molefhi said the owners obtained a clearance letter from Ministry of Finance and Development Planning. The minister said he was still satisfied that the procedure was serving his customers well, “notwithstanding the fact as events and fraudulent cases increase we will continue to realign our processes.” Mr Khwae had asked Mr Molefhi to state the current procedure of changing vehicle registration books. In addition, Kgalagadi North MP also wanted to know if the minister of Transport and Communications was satisfied that a signed registration book and copy of a certified Omang were safe measures and if he would review the current procedure in order to address this.BOPA #ParleyNews
